USC Alumna and Mork Scholar Ruby Au Launches Lumen in Kenya

Ruby Au ’16, a Mork Scholar and Trojan Scholars Society alumna moved to Kenya after graduation to launch Lumen, a social enterprise with a mission to create a financially sustainable model for providing computer education in rural communities. To achieve that goal, she and her team have structured the curriculum around data collection for external organizations.

Ruby has created a video featuring the Lumen story to raise awareness of their work in Kenya.

After concluding a successful pilot program in December 2016, Lumen is now crowdfunding to set up their first permanent “Lumen Labs” in Muhuru Bay and Mtito Andei, Kenya. You can support the venture by contributing to the crowdfund, or learn more by visiting their website.
